Welcome Visually Impaired Preschool Services - $250,000 to Build a Preschool for Blind and Visually Impaired Children

Welcome Visually Impaired Preschool Services - $250,000 to Build a Preschool for Blind and Visually Impaired Children

Goals

  • To provide educational services to visually impaired & blind children

Overview

VIPS has been serving children who are blind and visually impaired for 25 years in KY. There are two offices- Louisville and Lexington. Our teachers travel most of the state to provide therapy and education to the children in their homes. Lexington's sister office started a preschool program to provide more services for their children with visual impairments. This state of the art facility is not only used for the preschool but also provides programs for children birth to three that are visually impaired. We, in the Lexington location, want to do the same for our children. The problem is our current building will not house a licensed preschool. To see our dream come true to offer more programs and services to children in the Central and Eastern areas of KY we will need to move to another facility. With your help, this new facility will provide children with an enriched educational environment that will meet their needs for hands on learning and meeting their developmental milestones.

How will the 250K be Used?

Budget Notes: This Budget will not cover overhead cost for our program. We receive most of our funding through fund raising and grants. The money awarded to us from Pepsi will strictly be used to obtain a new facility and start fund raising for the preschool. Estimate cost for facility, 1 million.

Meet Columbia Youth Basketball Association - Help Build a Youth Multi-sport complex for all kids in Boone County!

Goals

  • To construct a four court multi-sports facility to help disabled kids and keep healthy kids healthy Idea Image Idea Image Idea Image Idea Image

Overview

CYBA is Building for the Kids! We have launched a capital campaign to raise 1.5 million dollars to build a 4 court multi sport facility in cooperation with Boone County. With this grant, we will literally build the foundation for the facility which will begin to make our dream a reality! There are no other community gyms in the area for use to the general public with the exception of 1 city court. Local school gyms are at capacity and unavailable for use in the summer and limited during the school year. CYBA stands to gain nothing from this venture except to provide the youth of Boone County a place to participate in organized sports year round. CYBA is operated by and for parents, grandparents, and kids just like YOU! We need you! This grant will  be an amazing asset to our community for more than just basketball. The opportunities are endless with this facility. Please vote for CYBA's Building for the Kids! For more information, visit our web site at http://www.cybball.com

Meet Adolescent Center for Talent Development - Provide independent living care for youth released from state custody

Meet ACTD - Provide independent living care for youth released from state custody

Goals

  • To develop a proctor care and independent living program.
  • To build a sports court for ACTD as a resource for skill development

Overview

We will rent an independent living apartment for youth and hire proctor parents and faculty to teach and implement independent living skills.

Proctor care will provide full time living arrangements for youth in the care of ACTD. This will help ease the youth's transition from a secured living environment to a structured home environment prior to being released to independent living.

The transitional care will focus on teaching youth budgeting, financial management, work management, and caring for their personal living space. ACTD employees will check on youth frequently to ensure they are following through on their commitments and are taking care of their living space. This will help the transition out of state's custody and help youth establish appropriate living skills prior to their release date.

The sports court will serve as a place for the youth to practice and develop their skills in a safe and monitored environment.

How will the 50K be Used?

$ 15,000 Rent and apartment upgrades
$ 20,000 Hire proctor parents and rent an urgent care proctor home
$ 12,000 Sports court
$ 3,000 Incidentals
