Meet Adolescent Center for Talent Development - Provide independent living care for youth released from state custody

Meet ACTD - Provide independent living care for youth released from state custody

Goals

  • To develop a proctor care and independent living program.
  • To build a sports court for ACTD as a resource for skill development

Overview

We will rent an independent living apartment for youth and hire proctor parents and faculty to teach and implement independent living skills.

Proctor care will provide full time living arrangements for youth in the care of ACTD. This will help ease the youth's transition from a secured living environment to a structured home environment prior to being released to independent living.

The transitional care will focus on teaching youth budgeting, financial management, work management, and caring for their personal living space. ACTD employees will check on youth frequently to ensure they are following through on their commitments and are taking care of their living space. This will help the transition out of state's custody and help youth establish appropriate living skills prior to their release date.

The sports court will serve as a place for the youth to practice and develop their skills in a safe and monitored environment.

How will the 50K be Used?

$ 15,000 Rent and apartment upgrades
$ 20,000 Hire proctor parents and rent an urgent care proctor home
$ 12,000 Sports court
$ 3,000 Incidentals
