• Provide collection center for coats & donations

Overview

We will provide free flu shots on 2 Saturdays in Octber, 2011. People drive up and get the shot from a trained health care professional without leaving their car and at no charge and with a donation of a new or used clean winter coat to help 7 local charities.
We have helped over 2,000 people every year to avoid the flu with our free flu shots, valued at $30,000 which we sponsor ourselves. The demand is so great that we'd like to do more for those hardest hit by joblessness, foreclosure and financial hardship in our community. With rising costs of the vaccine, we could use help paying for the vaccine, tent rentals and staffing.

Other items collected are gently used garments, shoes, appliances and small furniture which go to COTS, Detroit Rescue Mission Grace Centers of Hope, Latino Family Services, St. Vincent DePaul and the Salvation Army for distribution. The program will take place in our parking lot under the big white tent - rain or shine!
